Alain Surget

Alain Surget is a writer and teacher from Metz in eastern France. He has written quite a lot of books in French for young readers, books about animals especially — and he has a great interest in pirates and adventures on the High Seas! He has also published plays and poetry.

Bratach na gCnámh

Alain Surget worked with the talented French artist Annette Marnat on the Bratach na gCnámh series — a series which has the history of the pirates in the Carribeen Sea as a background.

Bratach na gCnámh 1: Éalú as Páras Louise Bheag and Benjamin escape from the orphanage and head for the coast. There, they meet the infamous Black Beard, and another pirate who tells them that their father is alive, but in danger. Unexpectedly, the pair are brought aboard a ship at night, and with that they begin their adventures on the seas.
